About Susan

After a successful career on Wall St. with Morgan Stanley and Capital Z Financial Services Partners (as a Partner of this $1.85 billion private equity fund), Susan took "early retirement" in order to pursue a second career that blended her three passions: corporate finance, teaching and social entrepreneurialism. A brief summary of Susan's experience includes:

• Nine years experience as a private equity investor and three years as an investment banker focusing on the financial services sector in general and insurance in particular
• Extensive experience executing highly-structured and complex private equity transactions in situations that required creativity and industry expertise as well as money
• Board of directors experience, including past and present membership on ten boards, comprised of six publicly traded corporations, a private corporation, a hedge fund partnership and two non-profit organizations
• Mergers and acquisitions and compensation consultant to the insurance industry
• Demonstrated interest in human development through teaching and mentoring. Professional experience as a manager, mentor and educator of junior investment professionals
• Frequent instructor for executives, investment professionals, MBAs and undergraduates
• Holds a PhD in Management from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management
• Current a Senior Lecturer at Cornell's School of Hotel Administration teaching courses in Entrepreneurship and a Visiting Senior Lecturer at Cornell's Johnson School teaching courses in Valuation, Women in Leadership, Negotiations and Advanced Financial Statement Analysis
• Avid marathon runner, adventure traveler, and healthy gourmet cook

Today, Susan helps organizations to bridge the divide between analysis and execution and teaches students and professionals to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Susan lives in Ithaca, New York with her four year old son Carter.
